# What does “blockchain-based” mean?

Blockchain technology ensures that all transactions in Districts are secure, transparent, and immutable.

This fosters trust among users, enabling them to trade, invest, and develop real estate confidently and securely within the virtual world.

The[ Realio Network](https://realio.network/) is a multi-chain Web3 ecosystem developed by the Realio team to revolutionize the issuance, management, and trading of real-world assets (RWAs) on-chain. At the core of the ecosystem is the Realio Network Chain, a Layer-1 blockchain designed for secure and efficient asset tokenization. Built on top of the Realio Network Chain are the Realio Investment Platform, Districts, and Freehold, which provide seamless access to tokenized physical and virtual real estate, private equity, and other high-value assets.
